Until you create and stick to your own morning routine, you’ll never fully grasp the power or reap its benefits. Morning routines are how moms can thrive, set boundaries, and most importantly live with intention and for yourself amid your work, kids, responsibilities, and life in general all pulling in every direction for your attention. I’ve included a free morning checklist to follow to help set the framework to create your own. These are my tips for creating productive habits each day. With more on my plate than ever, it’s essential that I make the most of my 24 hours and it starts first thing with my morning routine. ![]() I am busy, but because of the habits and routines I put into practice, I still have time left in the day for me and quality time with my baby, dog, family, and friends. On top of being a mother, I am an Operations Director for my company, and in my free time share insights from life and my career through the Reach Wellth blog to help others. Now that I am a new mom in my late 30’s, and a single mom at that, my morning routine has adjusted slightly, but only to include my little man and to ensure his needs are met as well as mine! So, naturally I’m a BIG fan of using a morning routine to get me on the right track to start the day.īut it wasn’t until I was in my late 20’s when I started tweaking my morning routine-what I included in and the order of the tasks-that I figured out what worked best! There is something innate in me that has always been into the concepts of structure and routine for increased productivity and peace. Because of that, your mornings should be the time when you go through your calendar and with a laser focus you re-evaluate your most important thing(s) and tasks.Creating a morning routine is essential no matter where you are in life. What is a good morning routine? And when do you know if your morning routine is successful? Well, the best proof of success is a day in your life when you feel in charge of your life, focused, determined and doing work that matters without being overwhelmed or exhausted in the evening. Checking your phone, reading the news or responding to other’s need for attention put you into reactive mode instead of being in a proactive state of mind where you spend time-consuming only the best information that enriches you and builds a foundation to make better decisions throughout your day. Make it your priority to avoid checking your social accounts or email at least the first hour of each day. Solution? Make those tiny decisions the night before. Thus, making small choices like what to wear or what to eat for breakfast can drain your energy leaving you with no willpower to tackle your biggest and most important tasks. Research shows that willpower is a finite resource. Planning is essential while making your morning routine checklist a real thing. The worst thing is to wake up dehydrated and drink coffee first thing in the morning! You have to help your body replenish and recharge, do not do the opposite. Keep in mind that if you drink coffee in the morning, you also need to balance it - for one cup of coffee you should drink two glasses of water. As a result, your body will be dehydrated when you wake up, so it’s important to start the day with water. If you get a full seven or eight hours of sleep, that’s a long period of time to go without water. When you have a balanced breakfast you feel energized and ready to work efficiently and concentrate more. Your body needs the energy to get you through your day. Don’t skip breakfast! It is the most important meal of the day. ![]()
